TOTTENHAM SALVAGE LATE DRAW AMID MOUNTING PRESSURE ON FRANK

by Denis Campbell

A stoppage-time equalizer from Cristian Romero secured a 2-2 draw for Tottenham Hotspur against Burnley at Turf Moor, but the result did little to quell the growing discontent among the traveling supporters.

The away section made their feelings clear throughout the match, with chants calling for the dismissal of head coach Thomas Frank ringing out. The atmosphere reached a crescendo at the final whistle, with fans loudly voicing their belief that a change in leadership is needed.

The match itself was a story of missed opportunities and defensive lapses for Spurs. Micky van de Ven’s early opener was overturned by goals from Burnley’s Axel Tuanzebe and Lyle Foster, putting the home side in front. It took Romero’s late intervention to snatch a point, extending Tottenham’s concerning run to just two victories in their last fourteen league outings.

In his post-match comments, Frank acknowledged the frustration but appealed for composure. “We created more than enough to win the game,” he stated. “The difference came down to two defensive moments we must improve. The mentality to fight until the end was there, and we need to build on that with clear heads.”

Frank also addressed the vocal criticism from the stands, thanking the fans for their support while reiterating his commitment to turning the club’s form around. “We are working tirelessly to move this club forward,” he said. “Everyone can see the effort from the players. We just need to convert our performances into results.”

The draw does little to ease the scrutiny on Frank’s position, with discussions reportedly held at board level last weekend. Attention now turns to a crucial midweek Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, where a point would secure progression to the knockout stages—a result that could provide a vital reprieve.

For Burnley, managed by Scott Parker, it was another case of points slipping away late on. “The reaction from the players in recent weeks has been excellent,” Parker said. “We are so close, but we have to find a way to turn these tight draws into wins. We fell just short today.”
