The release of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI has been postponed. The title, which was previously scheduled for a May 2025 launch, will now arrive in November 2026.
In a statement, the developer confirmed the new release date of November 19, 2026. The company cited the need for additional development time to ensure the final product meets its own high standards and player expectations, apologizing for the extended wait.
The game, set in a fictionalized version of Florida known as Leonida, will feature a narrative centered on a pair of protagonists named Jason and Lucia. Development has been underway since 2018.
The delay comes amid broader industry challenges following a post-pandemic slowdown. The franchise’s previous main installment, Grand Theft Auto V, has achieved monumental commercial success since its 2013 debut. The gap between major franchise releases has now stretched beyond a decade, marking one of the longest waits in modern gaming for a sequel of this scale.
