WEST HAM PART WAYS WITH MANAGER AMIDST WSL STRUGGLES

West Ham United have announced the departure of their women’s first-team manager, Rehanne Skinner. The decision comes with the club languishing near the foot of the Women’s Super League table, having secured only a single victory in eleven league outings this season.

In a brief statement, the club indicated that the team’s recent performances had fallen short of internal targets, prompting the board to seek a new direction. The search for a permanent successor is now underway.

Skinner, who took the helm in the summer of 2023, oversaw a challenging period. Her tenure concluded just days before a crucial League Cup fixture, following a disappointing home draw against Liverpool. In that match, West Ham failed to hold onto a lead against a side that played the majority of the game with ten players.

Her prior coaching experience included a three-year spell in charge of Tottenham Hotspur and roles within the English and Welsh football associations, following a long career that began at Leicester City nearly two decades ago.

The move leaves a notable vacancy in the WSL, where Skinner was one of the few female head coaches. The immediate focus for West Ham will be stabilizing their league position as they embark on the process of appointing new leadership.
