Liverpool’s players have made it clear they will not involve themselves in the ongoing situation surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, emphasizing that any decision rests solely with the club and the player himself. The stance comes amid continued speculation over the forward’s status at Anfield.
Salah was omitted from the squad for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League victory over Inter Milan, following comments he made in a recent interview. He is also expected to miss the upcoming Premier League fixture and will soon depart for international duty with Egypt.
After converting the winning penalty in that European clash, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who is considered close to Salah, addressed the matter. He stated that while he values Salah as both a friend and a player, the dressing room has no role in resolving the issue. “It’s his life and his career. That choice is between him and the club,” Szoboszlai noted.
Teammate Curtis Jones reinforced that the team’s focus remains unwavering under manager Arne Slot. He dismissed any suggestion that the situation has disrupted the squad’s unity, pointing to the resilient performance in Milan as proof of collective support for the coach. “We are always behind him. He’s with us, and we’re with him,” Jones stated.
He also praised Slot’s adaptability, highlighting recent tactical adjustments that have seen the team shift to a midfield diamond formation. According to Jones, the changes have helped refresh the side’s approach following a difficult period earlier in the season.
Since Salah’s absence began, Liverpool have gone four matches unbeaten, showing signs of renewed stability. The players insist the atmosphere within the camp is positive and concentrated on collective results, leaving contractual and disciplinary matters to the relevant parties at the club.
