CRYSTAL PALACE SHATTER TRANSFER RECORD WITH £50 MILLION CAPTURE OF WOLVES STRIKER

Crystal Palace have finalised a landmark deal to secure the signature of Norwegian forward Jørgen Strand Larsen from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The agreement, understood to be worth up to £50 million, sets a new club record for the Selhurst Park side.

The structure of the transfer involves a guaranteed payment of £45 million, with a further £5 million in performance-related clauses. This investment surpasses the fee Palace paid for Brennan Johnson earlier this month.

Wolves, who face a tense battle against relegation, have moved to capitalise on the striker’s value amid interest from several Premier League clubs. Leeds United had seen a bid in the region of £40 million turned down earlier this window, while Nottingham Forest had also registered their interest in the player.

Strand Larsen, 25, joined Wolves permanently last summer for £23 million after an initial loan spell from Celta Vigo. Despite signing a long-term contract extension shortly after his arrival, his form has been inconsistent this season, prompting Wolves to consider a substantial offer.

The impending arrival of the Norway international is likely to trigger further activity in the transfer market. Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is now expected to depart, with Forest having already tabled a £35 million offer for his services.

In a separate move, Burnley have bolstered their midfield by acquiring James Ward-Prowse on loan from West Ham United. The experienced England international, who has found opportunities limited this season, expressed his enthusiasm for the challenge ahead at Turf Moor.

“I was immediately convinced once I spoke with the manager here,” Ward-Prowse stated. “There’s a crucial fight ahead, and I’m ready to contribute and enjoy being back on the pitch.”
