ACTOR EVANGELINE LILLY DISCLOSES BRAIN INJURY FOLLOWING SERIOUS FALL

Canadian performer Evangeline Lilly has disclosed a diagnosis of brain damage, stemming from a severe concussion sustained earlier this year. The actor, recognized for her work in major film and television projects, shared the medical update via a social media video.

According to Lilly, a recent neurological scan indicated diminished function across nearly all regions of her brain. She attributed the condition primarily to a traumatic brain injury (TBI) suffered in May, when she lost consciousness and fell, striking her head on a rock.

“My task now is to work with specialists to understand the full scope of this and then begin the difficult process of rehabilitation,” Lilly stated. She noted that the cognitive challenges she has faced since the accident have, in an unexpected way, compelled her to adopt a slower, more restful pace of life.

In a written post accompanying the video, Lilly expressed that receiving a clear diagnosis provided some clarity, while also acknowledging the significant effort that recovery will require.

The incident occurred while Lilly was on a beach. She has previously described a long-standing history of fainting episodes, the cause of which was never definitively medically determined. Following the fall, she shared graphic images of her injuries, detailing the moment she regained consciousness.

Lilly has stepped away from acting in recent years, with her last major screen appearance being in a 2023 superhero film. She has since indicated she is focusing her energies on philanthropic efforts and writing, rather than pursuing new acting roles.
