TOTTENHAM’S GRAY SEES PROGRESS IN PARIS DESPITE DEFENSIVE LAPSES

Despite a 5-3 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray insists his team can find encouragement from their performance in the French capital.

The result extends a concerning run of form for Spurs, who have managed only three wins in their last twelve matches across all competitions. The loss in Paris followed a heavy defeat in the North London derby, increasing pressure on the team and manager Thomas Frank. The club’s struggles are particularly pronounced at home, with just one league victory at their stadium this season.

However, Gray highlighted the team’s attacking output as a significant positive. Scoring three times against the reigning European champions represented a marked improvement from recent displays. “It’s always disappointing to lose, but we showed more here than in our last game,” the 19-year-old said. “To score three goals away at a side of that quality is something we can build on.”

The young midfielder was a standout in a reshaped system, operating in an advanced role and contributing to two of Tottenham’s goals. His return from a calf injury provided a boost, though the match ultimately exposed familiar defensive frailties. Spurs conceded twice in quick succession after taking a brief second-half lead, a collapse that proved decisive.

Gray acknowledged the team’s current results are unacceptable for a club of Tottenham’s stature but praised the support of the traveling fans and the guidance of the coaching staff. “The fans have been incredible, and we have to give them more,” he stated. “The coaches have been excellent this season, working with us individually to improve. We know we have to be better, especially in key moments in games.”

Attention now turns to a crucial home fixture this weekend, where Spurs will be desperate to translate glimpses of promise into a much-needed victory and begin altering their troubling trajectory.
